$3,000 Grant

A mural and storytelling project highlighting the people, spaces, and stories in the Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea neighborhoods.

Heart of the Hood

By Anthony Maes

Heart of the Hood is a photo-based mural and storytelling project documenting life in the Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea (GES) neighborhoods. Using both digital and 35mm film photography, the project highlights the everyday people, spaces, and stories that shape the identity of these historic communities.

The final product will be a large-scale collage mural made from eco-solvent vinyl prints, installed in a public or accessible location within the GES area. The mural will serve as a visual celebration of the neighborhood’s character, reflecting its beauty, resilience, and deep cultural roots.
