Our Grantees

GES CIF believes that community members and their organizations are best at tackling the challenges they face every day. By trusting local leaders and funding groups that serve those affected by social injustice, we make a small, but significant dent in correcting the harms done to these communities.

Cycle 3 Grantees

  • Birdseed Collective

    The program distributes boxes containing fresh produce and staple foods such as rice, beans, and other nutritious items. In addition to food distribution, the program emphasizes community health and resilience by promoting nutrition awareness, food preservation skills, and neighborhood engagement.

  • GES Data Center Coalition

    This project will fund the practical conditions that make authentic community participation possible in a working-class, multilingual community: childcare, interpretation, meals, accessible meeting space, transportation support, bilingual outreach materials, and support for neighbors’ time as they door-knock, facilitate meetings, prepare testimony, participate in negotiations and civic processes, and help lead public education and coalition coordination.

  • Brick City Boxing

    Brick City Boxing Academy seeks funding to purchase a passenger van that will expand access to year‐round programming, tournaments, and leadership opportunities for youth in the GES neighborhoods.

  • La Piñata del Aprendizaje

    Engage and support parents, family members and FFN CareProviders as they gain skills that promote the development of young children in their care. All of La Piñata ’s programs are culturally and linguistically welcoming for Latinx families whose first language is Spanish

  • La Fresca

    Their plan is to enhance and upgrade the  website for use as both a marketing tool for the businesses and to add more resources for both community members and the businesses. This website enhancement is part of the second phase of the communications plan which La Fresca is now requesting funding for.

  • GES Tree Planting Project

    By providing raised beds, soil, and seeds or seedlings to community members, as well as ongoing support on how to care for the plants, we are helping in a small way to address the food insecurity our neighbors are facing. The education we will provide in how to care for both the trees and the garden beds is a lasting community resource that will allow community members to grow their own food and have more food sovereignty.

  • Swansea/Elyría Safe Cycle

    The project continues training current community members in bicycle repair techniques and to train other youth and adult/seniors in bike mechanics to be able to diagnose and repair their family and personal bikes in Swansea, Elyria and Globeville . We will again set up/table at select Community Fairs/Festivals during the2026 season. We will add limited repair service to select Homeless Shelters in 80216 if possible.A intergenerational riding and activity engagement component will be offered as community building and straight up recreation.

  • Unidos Por Swansea

    The project goal is to train up to 80 GES individuals/families and community members. The objectives include basic skills attainment in computer set up, usage, security/storage and Google applications. Below are a list of community members that are committed to the success of the program.

  • Viña Tenants Union

    The ultimate goal of the Viña Tenants Union is to create and inform all renters in the GES area of their rights. All renters have the same rights no matter types of rentals. This message is taught through tenant rights classes and regularly to discuss issues.

  • Valdez Perry Library Block Party

    The Denver Public Library Friends Foundation (DPLFF) respectfully requests $5,000 to support Valdez- Perry Branch Library’s annual community block party on August 1, 2026, a neighborhood tradition that brings residents together, celebrates the neighborhood, and connects the community to local resources. This year’s event is especially meaningful as it celebrates the branch’s 30th anniversary. This free event will serve approximately 300 residents and feature culturally relevant food and entertainment provided by neighborhood-based vendors and performers. Support from the Globeville Elyria-Swansea (GES) Community Investment Fund (CIF) would allow the library to intentionally contract with local caterers and performers whose work reflects the cultures and traditions of the neighborhood, strengthening participation and reinvesting in the local economy.

  • GES Infrasound Project

    This project will provide educational and financial opportunities to the GES communities.The workshop series offers interactive and engaging content for individuals and families of all learning levels. Spanish interpretation will be provided. Themes include the sources of sound, sensing sound, sound policies, sound as art, harmful/healing sounds, and future efforts to monitor sound.

  • The Abolition Garden

    The project we are seeking funding for expands our capacity to grow fresh, culturally relevant foods for neighbors while investing in youth to collectively shape environmental change in GES. As our community faces the most severe heat and drought conditions in over a decade, this project focuses on climate-adaptive, high-yield food production directly in Globeville that allows us to produce more food with fewer resources. This increased production will directly support free, neighborhood-based food distribution,

    providing consistent access to fresh, culturally-reflective produce for neighbors while advancing youth leadership in our local food system.

  • Art and Color Collective

    Raíces en Comunidad is a collaborative, community-led initiative that brings together Art and Color Collective, Maíz Denver, The Assembly Student Living in Globeville, and Garden Place Academy to create intergenerational programming centered on art, food, culture, and healing within the GES neighborhoods. Rooted in the understanding that healing happens in community,

  • Words To Power

    Words To Power will provide a culturally responsive intervention for youth participants from GES to: feel encouraged to embrace who they are and where they come from, learn how to use poetry as a coping mechanism, express resilience, hope, and determination, and experience a sense of pride in being published as authors.

  • Tonalli Wellness and Strength

    Tonalli Wellness and Strength will provide 2 monthly workshops, Zumba + Healing circle and Indigenous Beading class both free of charge. This will benefit the GES community by creating inclusive, culturally rooted spaces that foster movement, healing, nourishment, and holistic growth on their journey toward success. GES communities will learn a skill that can lead them to entrepreneurship.

  • Anthony Maes

    The Heart of Our Comunidad is a public art project that transforms photography into a mural-sized installation within Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea. The project will feature a large-scale photographic image on a prominent wall, supported by wheatpaste works and ground-level photo placements, with painted elements including a hand-rendered title.

  • Emanuel’s Bakery 

    Project is rooted in creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space for the community we proudly serve. As a small, community based business we see firsthand how important it is for families and neighbors to feel secure, connected and supported when they visit our restaurant. We are seeking to improve exterior lighting and also to expand our outreach through mailed flyers and to upgrade our dining area with new tables and chairs. These improvements will allow us to better serve our customers while addressing real needs within our neighborhood.

  • The Sidewalk Poets

    Sidewalk Poets provides free, mental-wellness and empowerment-oriented storytelling and creative writing workshops to underserved communities and individuals—so they can share their voices, process pain and trauma, feel more empowered and enrich their neighborhoods and the city. This project has two components. The first would provide a free four-week bilingual storytelling and writing workshop open to all community members of Globeville Elyria Swansea, meeting every week for two hours at a local spot (we are planning Emmanuel’s Bakery), to share personal stories and community

    history; to read, write, and break bread together; to gather youth, elders and mid-lifers together in community building, wisdom sharing, and exchange.

    The Xocotlhuetzi Pahtia: Falling of the Fruit Healing Summit offers a community-wide day of indigenous healing practices rooted in ancestral knowledge.

  • The Abolition Garden

    The Rootwork Youth Program seeks funding to expand into a two-year cohort model that engages GES youth in food justice, cultural preservation, and social change.

  • Birdseed Collective

    The Birdseed Collective's free food distribution program serves over 90 families weekly in the Globeville community with 30-40 pounds of mostly redonated produce per family.

  • Green Dot Coalition

    $5,000
    The I-70 green infrastructure project transforms over ¼ acre of abandoned highway planting beds along 10 city blocks in Globeville through soil remediation, mulching, and ground cover installation.

  • Project Angel Heart

    $5,000
    Project Angel Heart prepares and home-delivers medically tailored meals to GES residents living with severe illnesses like cancer, HIV/AIDS, and heart disease.

  • Sabor Comunitario

    $3,000
    A culinary workshop and a community empowerment initiative designed to uplift GES residents through skill-building, cultural celebration, and economic opportunity.

  • Alas de Yoga

    $5,000
    A thriving community program that offers free indoor and outdoor yoga classes to GES residents and their families, promoting physical and mental wellness while reducing stress, blood pressure, and various health conditions while fostering stronger neighborhood connections and emotional regulation skills.

  • Swansea/Elyria Safe Cycle

    $5,000
    Provides intergenerational bicycle repair training to youth, adults, and seniors in the Swansea, Elyria, and Globeville neighborhoods. Also offers mobile repair services at community events, promotes cycling activities, and advocates for safe bike lane infrastructure to benefit local residents.

  • Salud y Armonia

    $5,000
    A 12-week workshop program that helps participants manage stress and depression through relaxation techniques like yoga, meditation, and art therapy, culminating in the creation of positive motivational signs for their gardens.

  • La Fresca Collage

    Develop an equitable communication plan for La Fresca by contracting with a local GES community technology professional to develop a website that serves as an educational and resource hub, strengthens community connectedness within the local food system, and provides training to build capacity while keeping funding within the community.

    Establishes a resident-led steering committee to improve Lorraine Granado Park in Swansea, creating a much-needed community hub and outdoor recreation space.
